Favorite Color |
Pale green for my house. But different shades
of browns when it comes to clothes (my youngest son asked me once what
my favorite color was and when I said "brown" he was scandalized---"Brown
can't be your favorite color.") |

If court reporting didn't exist, I’d
be... |
...being a mom and playing scrabble online.
Wishing I had a skill so I could do something (else) productive now
that my kids are getting older. |
Greatest non-court reporting achievement
- |
I don't feel like I've achieved much (outside
of trying to raise three kids). I've started a lot of things but I never
seem to finish them (take court reporting, for instance). But this time,
I plan to change that. |
Hidden Talent |
writing.....very hidden. Also, I've played
the piano for 32 years |
Secret desire - |
I'd like to become a court reporter, make
some money and buy my husband his favorite car and take my family on
fun trips. |
Best advice I've ever received - |
No defeat in the present disqualifies us
from victory in the future. |
I love court reporting because... |
Law is exciting for the most part, the job
is flexible, there's so much variety and you can't beat the money. |
When I have 2 spare hours, I... |
Work out, read and/or play online scrabble. |
Favorite singer, musician or group |
Impossibly hard to pick one but among my
all-time favorites: Leonard Cohen, Lucinda Williams...it's a long list. |
In 5 years I will be... |
...working the hours I want, enjoying life
more than ever and traveling more. |
How I discovered court reporting - |
It's been so long ago, I don't remember
how I first "discovered" court reporting. I was a young single
mother, had an infant and heard about court reporting. It sounded like
the perfect job for my situation. I started, flew through the course,
got to my 120s/130s in no time but then I moved and lost my momentum.
I started again and got to the 160s but scheduling stuff prevented me
from continuing. 17 years later I'm determined to finish FINALLY!!!! |
Favorite Movie |
Another hard to pick (I don't watch movies
very often) but probably an all-time favorite is White Nights with Mikhail
Baryshnikov. Probably nobody's even heard of it :) I loved the dancing
and I had a crush on Mikhail at the time. |
Favorite TV Show |
I don't have a T.V. :) There are good things
on T.V, I know, but I don't watch it enough to have a favorite (Mystery
Science Theater is fun). |
Best Court Reporting Tip - |
Practice, practice, practice |
Anything you want to add about yourself
- |
My two youngest sons are profoundly deaf
and have bi-lateral cochlear implants (they've been implanted for almost
eight years). Cochlear implants are technological miracles. If you were
around my sons, talking to them, listening to them, you'd never know
they were deaf (which is fine to be if that's what you choose. We chose
hearing since it's a "hearing world"). They're very self-sufficient
and mainstream and definitely advocates for themselves. |
